As you are aware that the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Bangladesh
Council
started its journey during late 1990s with inspiring leadership of former Chief of
Bangladesh Navy, Rear admiral MH Khan who lead Bangladesh Chapter of CILT with his
quality
leadership and hard work. Subsequently CILT Bangladesh had to undergo a number of
hurdles in
its forward journey in delivering positive and visible support to the logistics and
transport sector of our beloved country, Bangladesh. I want to loudly say that it was
undoubtedly a golden event in history of CILT Bangladesh when Syed Rezaul Hayat FCILT, a
legendary figure in the civil service of the country, a former permanent secretary, took
over as CILT’s president during early 2010, who under his wise, dedicated and inspiring
leadership took our organization to new heights involving various business and commerce
chambers, different relevant ministry of Govt. of Bangladesh during his short tenure of
about 2 and half years after which he left us all to abide for ever with the Almighty,
during mid April 2012. Inspite of this certain sudden setback with all out support,
inspiration & involvement of various categories of members, both seniors and juniors,
CILT
Bangladesh has been successful in expanding its membership circle, particularly among
the
young generation substantially. I will do injustice if I do not give credit to and say a
few
words about Tanjil Ahmed Ruhullah, CMILT (Vice Chair of Young Professionals Forum) and
his
team consisting of dedicated bright, young professionals who, with target based plan,
hard
work and dedicated efforts has invited more than 200 members onboard CILT Bangladesh
during
2018-2019, which includes a number of senior members from renowned business and
industries
houses, as well as faculty members and department heads of some prestigious universities
in
Bangladesh. CILT Bangladesh council had conducted a number of General Meetings during
calender year 2019 including membership certificate awarding ceremony etc. The 5th batch
of
CILT International Diploma Course launched was successfully completed at UIU (United
International University) recently. Besides CILT Bangladesh had organized a few
beneficial
and relevant training courses and workshops such as the Evening Session on Incoterms &
the
Introduction to Strategic Data Analytics at our office premises. WiLAT (Women in
Logistics
and Transport), Bangladesh is also taking solid shape gradually but steadily and we hope
by
2020 WiLAT Bangladesh will get its organized shape through a smooth plan based
action/implementation activities. As I look to the year ahead, we will continue to
facilitate CILT Bangladesh progress and activities through our Seminars, Workshops,
Meetings
and International Conference. These events are also a great opportunity to network with
association in our industry. Thanks to your continuous support, we have been able to
undertake a number of activities and I assure you that we will be even more active this
year. Last but not the least I would like to thank all our Members for their service to
CILT
Bangladesh Council last term and would also like to extend a warm welcome to all the new
members. Welcome aboard! I hope that the new members of our esteemed Institute will
inject
new ideas and contribute as much as possible so that the Council will be able to meet
the
expectations of all members.
